We came across Sandwich and Pickle totally by accident driving through Staten Island. We were pleasantly surprised!! The interior is so cute, very Victorian. The menu has so many good classics to try but we decided on the pancakes and the pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup. The pancakes were very fluffy and the syrup was amazing! The pastrami was moist and thick cut. Matzoh ball soup was good too! Wish we were local to the area to come back, but highly recommend! Service was quick.
My wife has been admiring and hyping this restaurant for a long time and everything was how she described and more!!!! When walking into the restaurant you are made to feel like you are in a story book taking place in a cute restaurant. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food was soooooo delicious, and amazing portion size. For starter we had the pirogies. They were crisp and full of flavor. For main course I had the corned beef sandwich with truffle fries. The corned beef was so tender it fell apart with easy. The truffle fries were the best I have ever had! My wife had the eggs Benedict. Instead of English muffins they were served on potato latkas, and it was perfect!! The price was a little high for 2 entrees and a starter but definitely worth it! A+ must try!!
I was looking for a place that specialized in deli food on Staten Island and saw this place. I was impressed by the ambience when I walked in! It legitimately felt like I was in a Jewish grandmother's kitchen. The floral wallpaper was gorgeous and I absolutely loved the plates and cups they used! Besides the beautiful decor and style, the food was also great. I got potato pancakes and the half sandwich half soup deal. Although salty, my pastrami sandwich was tasty! And the matzo ball soup was really good as well. A truly nostalgic experience. And the waiter always kept checking on us! Excellent service. My Jewish grandparents also enjoyed . Just wish they were open later during the week.
A cute brunch spot tucked in a small plaza. The vibes are immaculate and perfect for families or small groups. The chicken on French toast (you could also get on waffle) is delicious with crispy white meat chicken. The breakfast fries are two sunny side eggs with pastrami and Russian dressing on a mound of crinkle fries. The pastrami is tender and slightly salty. I recommend that you go early because it does get crowded for Sunday brunch!
Sandwich and Pickle in Staten Island was a delightful experience, focusing on their exceptional French toast creation. The French toast with Nutella and bananas was an absolute delight. The thick slices of bread were perfectly golden, with a crispy exterior giving way to a fluffy, decadent center. The Nutella added a rich, chocolatey sweetness, while the bananas provided a delightful natural freshness. Each bite was a heavenly combination of flavors and textures. The dish showcased their dedication to quality and creativity, making it a must-try for breakfast enthusiasts. The cozy ambiance and friendly service only added to the overall enjoyment.
Awesome place with an eclectic menu. Definitely eastern European but very homemade and bold flavors. Would absolutely come back to try so many other items. We had: Shakshuka: delicious! And paired with toasted Challah to mop up all the goodness. Hot Honey Chicken: very rich and tasty. Menu says its a must try and it absolutely is. Pastrami sandwich and soup combo: tasted very homemade and delicious.
We came here for brunch and ordered a couple items. It's a nice little spot with a couple of tables. Service was good. I got the pastrami eggs benedict on a waffle. The waffle was a little dry but the pastrami was 10/10!!! I would definitely come back just for that. The bananas and nuts waffle was good but gets a little sweet for me after awhile.
We were visiting my grandma every weekend for a month and kept coming back here again and again. They pay attention to every detail with such love and care, like your own bubbe would. Their matzoh ball soup is a dream! It wafts with such rich chicken broth deliciousness, and the half-sandwich combo is everything you could ever want: half a brisket with their potato salad. Also a big fan of their waffle-meets-eggs Benedict dish that's sweet and savory. And I still crave their pillowy, foamy cappuccino, generously sprinkled with cinnamon if you ask. 5 stars!!!!
